Wetland conservation projects in North Carolina’s Southeastern Coastal Plain will receive $2 million through the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission.. Chaired by Interior Secretary David Bernhardt, the commission considers and approves areas of land or water recommended by the secretary for purchase or rental by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.   Moreover, the North American Coastal Plain – which includes all of Eastern North Carolina and stretches from New England to the Gulf Coast – .   This study examines the effects of lateral migration rates on the structure and composition of riparian forests along the Congaree River, Congaree National Park, in the Atlantic Coastal Plain, South Carolina. Lateral channel migration rates were measured in .

Effects of land use on hydrology of drained soils in the North Carolina lower coastal plain were investigated by comparing hydrologic measurements on drained agricultural cropland, drained forest land (Loblolly pine), and an undrained forested wetland.

Softwood forest types, found mostly in the piedmont and coastal plain, cover 33% 3 of the timberland area. North Carolina’s timberlands grow more than billion trees, including at least 70 species of hardwoods and more than 15 species of softwoods.

Southeast Georgia's Lower Coastal Plain is a subregion that encompasses the lowest-lying areas of the Atlantic coastal plain in the state, containing barrier islands, marshes, and swampy lowlands, as well as flat plains and low terraces.

It differs from Georgia's Upper Coastal Plain in that it is lower in elevation with less relief and wetter soils. Lower Coastal Plain, an environmental region of the Coastal Plain Province, contains some of the state's most well-known geographic features—the coastal barrier islands and the Okefenokee state's lowest elevations and its highest percentage of wetlands—including tidal salt and brackish marshes, bottomland hardwood swamps, and the Okefenokee—are found in the Lower Coastal Plain.

3-D visualization is a powerful tool that can portray not only the structure and composition of forests, but also the spatial and temporal changes of a forest due to different disturbances or management treatments.

The purpose of this project is to provide a tree image and ecosystem library of the Coastal Plain of South Carolina so it can be the base for the future projects in association with. Sincearea of timberland in the Southern Coastal Plain of South Carolina increased by 3 percent to million acres.

Nonindustrial private forest landowners control nearly three-fourths of the region's timberland. The area classified as pine increased by 14 percent, while hardwood acreage. Technical Report: Forest statistics for the northern coastal plain of South Carolina, Forest Service resource bulletin.

Dotted with freshwater wetlands, dense with nesting and breeding wildlife, dissolving into salt marsh and estuaries as it stretches toward the sea — the coastal plain bears a resemblance to the South Carolina lowcountry.

Climate change in Georgia encompasses the effects of climate change, attributed to man-made increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide, in the U.S. state of Georgia. Studies show that Georgia is among a string of "Deep South" states that will experience the worst effects of climate change, with effects including "more severe floods and drought", and higher water levels "eroding beaches.

But byonly 3 million acres of longleaf forest remained in the South, and of that, only ab scattered acres retained an old-growth component with a biologically diverse understory.
